About Sub Sahara

Sub Sahara is an authentic family-run African Shop & Butchery operating in the heart of Rotherham, near the high street and a stone’s throw from the bus interchange and market. Sub Sahara was established in August 2023 by owners who have a combined experience of retail and hospitality industry of over 30 years.

Our Products

At Sub Sahara we sell authentic African products mainly from the southern parts of Africa, including: Zimbabwe, approximately 60% of products, South Africa 20%, other Southern African and rest of Africa 10% and the other 10% are fresh products sourced locally.

Our main products are:

• MAZOE crush in various flavors including our most popular orange crush, OROS, also in different flavors.
• Lobels biscuits also different flavors including the famous irresistible lemons creams
• The “you can’t live without” lWISA maize meal, Super Mabela, Samp.
• Boerewors in plain, chakalaka and chilli flavor
• Biltong in plain and chilly flavours
• Variety of crispy including the Thingz and Flings
• Tea and Coffees, including Joko, Tanganda, Rooibos and Trekker
• A variety of Spices including Royco and Six Gun
• All gold tomato sauce
• Maputi coloured and plain
• Magewu butter and traditional flavors
• Cultured milk, Amasi/hodzeko
• Traditional, nyimo, sugar beans and nzungu/amazambane
• Ingram camphor
• Matemba, madora/amacimbi
• Hard chicken (road-runners)
• Tilapia, salt fish
• Pork belly/ribs
• Fresh or frozen Goat meat, all cuts
• Finally our succulent meat-on-the-bone, rib eye, brisket, short ribs, blade, shin, oxtail, fresh liver, juicy beef bones, cow feet, tripe and chuck.
